Did you ever wonder how the Boulder Dam (its original name) could have been built without the railroad? Our first stop will take you to the Nevada State Railroad Museum, where you’ll board a fully refurbished locomotive and take a 45-minute train ride from Boulder City to Railroad Pass. Next up is the heart of Boulder City, where you’ll have an opportunity to browse the picturesque shops and have lunch. Continuing along, will be Hoover Dam and the 45-minute Powerplant Tour, providing a comprehensive view of the massive dam and its operations, as well as highlights of the unique features around the site. Final destination is a stop at Ethel M’s to sample some delectable treats and maybe even bring some home. Tickets are on sale now at Desert Vista, Mountain Shadows and Pinnacle community centers.

Valentine’s Dance

Kirby Music is bringing their incredible Virtual Orchestra to the Desert Vista Ballroom for Valentine’s Day, so grab your sweetheart and show him or her a good time by dancing the night away. There also will be snacks and a cash bar. Tickets are on sale now at the Desert Vista community center. 


Valley of Fire Day Trip

Wednesday, February 15

$18 per person

This trip sold out last October, so be sure and get your tickets early! A great getaway for some sightseeing and picture-taking, Valley of Fire is the oldest and largest state park in Nevada, dedicated in 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations, formed 150 million years ago. Some of the more well-known rock formations include: Elephant Rock, Seven Sisters, Mouse’s Tank and Beehives. The park offers a full-scale visitor center with extensive interpretive displays. The trip includes transportation only (driver gratuity not included). Be sure to bring a sack lunch and beverage to enjoy at a scenic picnic area.
